Charis HamicArt EducationAiken, SC

I am an artist who explores multiple mediums, including clay, fabric, fire, ink, glitter, oil and acrylic paints. My artworks are like fingerprints—each piece is unique in its subject and medium, capturing a glimpse of what it’s like to have a relationship with Jesus, including both the positives and struggles. Through my work, I aim to communicate the beauty and wonder that life can hold, offering viewers a space to experience this divine connection and the joy that comes from it.

Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

I would advise myself to breathe, take a moment, ask for help, and continue on. You don't have to do everything on your own; it's okay to ask for help.

What's your favorite A+D memory?

My favorite memory is working with my fellow classmates near the deadline of a project. There were always sweet conversations and good laughs.

What was your favorite A+D class?

Sculpture 2.

What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?

The pivotal moment in my art career came when I created a sculpture of wings. In that moment, I realized how much I love using my hands to create and felt a deep sense of joy in my creation.

What's next for you?

I am currently pursuing a career as an Art Teacher, with the goal of encouraging others to create while continuing my own artistic practice.

How do you hope your work makes an impact?

I hope my work inspires others to recognize that the light will always triumph over darkness.
